If you want to study in Canada for more than 6 months, you will need a study permit. Once a study permit has been approved, a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization is to be issued. If you want to study in Canada you must obtain a study permit.

Conditions Required To Study In Canada

To get the approval to study in Canada, the requirements you should meet are:

• You Have To Be Enrolled At A Designated Learning Institute (DLI).
• You Need To Present Proofs That You Have Necessary Funds To Cover Your Tuition, Living Expenses And Returning Expenses For You And Any Accompanying Family Members.
• You Must Obey The Law, Have No Criminal Record, And Obtain A Police Certificate If Needed.
• You Are In Good Health And Will Get A Medical Exam If Required.
• You Can Prove To An Immigration Officer That You Will Leave Canada Upon The Expiration Of Your Study Permit.

Exceptional Cases

Study permit may not be required in the following cases:

• If A Program Is Of 6 Months Or Less
• If You Are A Family Or Staff Member Of A Foreign Representative To Canada
• If You Are A Member Of A Foreign Armed Force From A Nation Under The Visiting Forces Act
• If You Have Registered Indian Status In Canada, Regardless Of Citizenship Of Any Country
• If You Have A Valid Work Permit Issued On Or Before June 7, 2023

Work Or Live In Canada After Completing Your Studies:

After completing your degree in Canada, you may be eligible to work temporarily or live permanently in Canada. To work in Canada, you will require a valid work permit. You may be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if you graduate from a DLI. The length of the PGWP depends on the length of the study program. If you already have qualifying work experience, after graduation you may apply to stay permanently, under the Canadian Experience Class.
