Canada is introducing new pilot programs that allow home care professionals to obtain permanent residency upon arrival. These programs are designed for those employed by organizations providing temporary or part-time care to semi-independent individuals or those recovering from illness. To be eligible, caregivers must:

  • Achieve a Canadian Language Benchmarks level of 4
  • Hold a high school diploma equivalent
  • Have relevant work experience
  • Secure a full-time job offer in the sector

These new initiatives replace the current Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot, set to expire on June 17. Unlike the previous programs, which required a certain amount of work experience in Canada, the new programs grant permanent residency immediately upon arrival. More details about the work experience requirements will be announced later.
