Sponsoring children: The definition of the age of dependent children has now been changed. Based on the recent change; dependent children means “under the age of 22”. Earlier, it used to be “under the age of 19 ”.

Starting October 24, 2017, all new applications received by Immigration Canada will be processed under the new definition.
Parents who have submitted applications to sponsoring children, which is being processed on May 3, 2017, or who have applied since that time will also be processed under the new definition. It means that if the children are under 22 years on May 3, 2017, they could take this advantage. If your application is being processed then you should notify IRCC no later than January 31, 2018.
