The government of Québec has earlier announced its goal of welcoming 40,000 immigrants in 2019. The Minister of Immigration, Simon Jolin-Barrette, tabled the 2019 Quebec Immigration Plan in the National Assembly on December 4, 2018.
In this case, the government will provide admission to:
- Economic Class Category between 21,700 to 24,300 people, including:
- 18,000 to 20,100 skilled workers;
- 3,100 to 3,400 business people;
- 600 to 800 other immigrants in this stream;
- Family Class Category between 8,900 to 9,400 people;
- Refugee Category between 6,800 to 7,500 people, including:
- 1,150 to 1,200 refugees in state care;
- 3,250 to 3,600 refugees with collective sponsorship
- 2,400 to 2,700 locally recognized refugees;
- Other Immigrants are between 600 and 800 people.
