Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) helps skilled workers and international graduates become permanent residents. The program covers four provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. It replaced the earlier pilot program and is now permanent.
Important Provincial Updates
Some provinces have changed their program status.
- New Brunswick: The AIP is paused for new applications for the rest of 2025. Its yearly limit has been reached.
- Prince Edward Island: The province is limiting applications to workers in healthcare, construction, and manufacturing.
Always check the official provincial immigration websites for the latest news.
How the Program Works
The AIP is an employer-driven program, managed in partnership between the federal government and the provinces. You can read the full program details on the Government of Canada’s main AIP page. The process means you must have a job offer to apply.
- Get a Job Offer: You need a job offer from a designated employer in an Atlantic province.
- Get Endorsed: The employer gets the job offer endorsed by the province.
- Apply for PR: Once endorsed, you can apply for permanent residence.
Finding a Designated Employer
Designated employers are businesses approved by a province to hire foreign workers through the AIP. Each province maintains its own program information and list of employers.
These lists show which employers can use the program. They do not mean the employer is currently hiring. You should search for open jobs on job boards and company websites. Apply for specific jobs advertised by these employers.
